How do I clean my Accent Tiles or Home Décor?

First, the look of the bronze will change with time.  Cleaning all surfaces with a mild soap, water will help the hardware age gracefully.  Because water conditions alter across the country various minerals, air conditions can impact the finish of the accent tiles.  Below are details on how to maintain each of the accent tiles that you own:

Natural finishes

  • Clean regularly with soap and water.
  • Use very fine steel wool or 400-600 grit sandpaper to buff out and repair slight surface scratches to help replace the luster of the irregular surface finish.

 
Matte finishes

  • Clean regularly with soap and water.

 
Polished finishes

  • Clean regularly with soap and water.
  • You may apply a brass cleaner such as Miracle Shine.  NOTE:  a quality car wax and soft cloth for buffing can be used to polish and protect, if desired.  If you choose to wax with quality car wax, watch for wax build up.

Setting Tiles

We recommend that a professional tile installer be used to install our product.  Use a latex-modified thin set mortar such as TEC 393 or like material.  Under no circumstances should a pre-mixed latex/grouting product be used.  Other applications, such as molding for a wooden countertop, will require construction adhesive or an epoxy (LATICRETE 310 works great!).  Small amounts of hot glue plus the adhesive works best.  The hot glue holds the piece in place until the adhesive sets up.

For fire surrounds where the tile is to be applied on the surface of the brick, we recommend a high temperature Silicone adhesive with the hot glue technique.

For setting in stone, we recommend high temperature brick mortar.  We do not recommend that the bronze tile be installed inside the firebox; only the outside surround should be decorated.

Cutting

Bronze, aluminum and zine are soft metals.  Thus, Skopos tiles may be cut with a angle grinder or band saw, using a bi-metal blade.

Grouting

You can use sanded grout with our tiles, use a lot of water and a soft sponge to remove grout.  Note: if planning on using the new epoxy type grout, the tiles MUST be sealed with Lacquer.  The tiles may react with the epoxy causing the bronze, zinc and aluminum to turn color.

Skopos stands behind all of its bronze, aluminum & zinc products with a lifetime guarantee on material and workmanship.  When necessary, a proof of purchase dated within the warranty period may be required.  The natural patina that can appear on the cast products is known as a “living finish,” which means it will change with time, touch, climate, etc.  Because each product will be exposed to a varying set of conditions, we do not warranty the natural finish of our products.

Skopos will not assume liability for any labor charges regarding the removal or reinstallation of the products; nor will we cover any freight, postage, or handling expense related to the product.  Damages caused by accident, misuse, abuse, or improper installation are not covered by this warranty.

Do you offer lower price offering based upon larger projects?

I have a need for custom accent tiles and/ or home décor, can you make my ideas come to reality?

Skopos’ custom design team works with architects, interior designers and homeowners to create customized artistic accent tiles and home décor for any project in or outside of the house.  We guide each customer through the five phases of custom design.  If you want more details, please contact us at support@skoposbronzeworks.com.

Does Skopos typically send out samples for approval?

Skopos provides sample color medallions based upon project scale and customer needs.  Each of the medallions includes the three finish types (natural, matte and polish).  A deposit and shipping charge will be applied.  Once returned the deposit will be returned.

Does Skopos sell internationally?

We do not distribute our products internationally at this time but if you would like to discuss options please contact us a support@skoposbronzeworks.com.

What are your lead times for producing standard and custom accent tiles and home decor?

Typically, our lead time is 4-6 weeks for our standard product offerings and 6-10 weeks for custom products.  Timing is based upon the number of projects within the production pipeline as we align to a FIFO manufacturing approach.

Is it safe to order online?

Yes, we use industry standard SSL encryption to protect your details. Potentially sensitive information such as your name, address and card details are encoded so they can only be read on the secure server. This information is authenticated to ensure it only gets sent to this secure server and is checked to make sure it has not been tampered with during transfer.
Security checks are also made on all transactions, to ensure the authenticity of each card payment.

You will receive an automated email to confirm your order has been received, and is being processed.
You will receive a further dispatch confirmation email once your order has been packed and is ready to leave our warehouse.

Where is my order?

Most of our deliveries are sent via UPS and we will send you an automated email with the tracking number of your order. You can also find the tracking number on your order in My Account.

How can I make a complaint?

In the rare occasion we make a mistake we are more than happy to take all customer feedback . There is always room for improvement.  Please contact us ASAP.

Is it possible to change the address/cancel or amend my order?

Due to the high volume of orders we receive, we have an automatic invoicing system. For any changes to your order, please call us immediately after placing the order. We can attempt to stop or amend your order with our dispatch team, if it is not possible, we will advise you on the next steps.

Can I have an update on my order status?

You can get an update on your order status by checking your order in your My Account section.  You will need to [sign in] to access this area.  Or you can call us.

I have a new email address, and I am unable to reset my password. How do I change my password?

We are able to change the email address for you, provided you are able to answer some security questions.  We take data privacy very seriously and need to verify who you are.  After your email address is validated and changed, you can request a new password online.

Who pays for return postage?

If you are returning an unsuitable item for a refund we will refund the cost of the item only and not the original delivery cost.
